Shop Local at the Heart of Bannau Brycheiniog
Brecon is known as the gateway to the beautiful Bannau Brycheiniog (Brecon Beacons) National Park. But this quaint little market town in Mid-Wales has a lot more going for it than stunning scenery in all directions. It’s an unpretentious, outdoorsy kind of place, with big cultural credentials (think Brecon Jazz), plenty of history, and a lovely cathedral. Plus a living, breathing rural lifestyle that’s easy to slip into.
Far from the city crowds, Brecon has plenty of small, independent shops, galleries, and cafes to explore. Wander the historic streets and narrow alleyways to discover traditional Victorian shopfronts and grand Georgian buildings, many filled with antiques, books, local crafts, artisan foods, and unique works of art to take home.
Read on for a tour of the independent boutiques, galleries, and eateries that make Brecon a great place for slow travel.
