Helen
Hello, I'm Helen, a travel writer, marketer and PR. I’ve worked in travel for 20 years, and I’ve lived in the Middle East and Italy. It’s easy to get out and discover new things when you move to another country, and I was determined to do the same when I came home to Wales. I’m now living in Cardiff, and having a brilliant time exploring South Wales like a tourist.
Q&A With Helen
Where's your favourite place in South Wales?
Ooh, it changes every week! I do love the coast, and the Gower has some of the best beaches in the UK, or even the world. A walk across Three Cliffs Bay in the depths of winter is certainly life-affirming. And you can’t beat a good hike and a well-deserved pint in the Brecon Beacons. If I didn’t live in Cardiff, I’d be in Abergavenny or Hay-on-Wye.
What do you enjoy doing away from writing?
Travelling! We have a camper van, and we’re slowly exploring parts of the UK we’ve never been to - last year we did an epic Scottish road trip. This year, we’re staying closer to home - there are so many beautiful roads to drive in Wales, and scenic places to pitch up.
What’s one thing you can’t work without?
Warmth. I’m obsessed with layering, and sneaky ways to keep warm when I’m working from home or in the van. I have an unhealthy obsession with the weather, but that means I’m always prepared!
