About

The National Roman Legion Museum explores life in Roman Britain through the story of the fortress at Caerleon near Newport, one of only three permanent legionary bases in the country. Set within the remains of the ancient site of Isca, the museum stands close to the amphitheatre and barracks, placing visitors at the heart of a former Roman stronghold.

Inside, galleries display Roman armour, weapons, inscriptions and everyday objects that reveal how soldiers and civilians lived nearly two thousand years ago. Through interactive exhibits, reconstructed spaces and family friendly activities, the museum offers an engaging insight into the military power and daily routines of the Roman Empire in Wales.
