About Bess Atwell - Wales Millennium Centre / Canolfan Mileniwm Cymru
Bess Atwell released her debut album Hold Your Mind at just 19, introducing a songwriter of rare emotional precision. In the years since, she has continued to grow as both a touring artist and writer, releasing two further critically acclaimed albums: Already Always and Light Sleeper.
Following the release of Already Always in late 2021, Bess toured extensively, opening for artists as varied as The National, Ben Howard, and Ed Sheeran. During this time, the digital world embraced songs such as ‘Time Comes in Roses’ and ‘Nobody’, while BBC 6 Music favourite ‘Co-op’ helped build a growing and devoted audience.
Her third album, Light Sleeper, was produced by Aaron Dessner - known for his work with Taylor Swift and as a key member of The National, a band Bess has long admired. Recorded at Long Pond Studio, the album was well received and praised by critics. Bess supported Light Sleeper with tours across the UK and Europe, while also performing her first shows in Australia and Canada. Her biggest London headline show to date took place at KOKO, followed by a debut appearance at Glastonbury Festival.
