About No Sign Bar

No Sign Bar is a historic wine bar on Wind Street in the heart of Swansea, widely regarded as the city's oldest pub. Established in 1690 and Grade II listed, the independent, family-run bar was once the premises of Munday's wine merchants, and takes its unusual name from old licensing law: as a bar rather than a public house, it was never allotted a sign. Its cellars were immortalised as the Wine Vaults in Dylan Thomas's short story The Followers, the poet having been a regular here in his Swansea days.

Behind its narrow frontage the bar opens into a series of characterful spaces, from a front lounge with an open fire to a light-filled rear restaurant, the first-floor Munday's Cocktail Lounge and the atmospheric cellar Vault. It pours an extensive wine list alongside premium spirits, whiskies, real ales and ciders, with home-cooked food served daily and live music through the week. Steeped in history yet firmly part of the modern Wind Street scene, it is a genuine Swansea institution and a fixture on the city's Dylan Thomas trail.
