About Caldicot Castle & Country Park

Caldicot Castle is a well preserved medieval fortress set within peaceful parkland in Monmouthshire, around five miles to the west of Chepstow. Originally built by the Normans and later strengthened in stone, the castle has been carefully restored, offering visitors a chance to explore its towers, gatehouse and impressive curtain walls.

Inside the castle, visitors can walk along the battlements, discover furnished rooms and learn more about its long and varied history through exhibitions and displays. The open courtyard and surrounding spaces provide a relaxed setting, with regular events and activities adding to the experience throughout the year.

Beyond the castle walls, the country park extends across wide open green spaces, woodland areas and riverside paths along the Nedern Brook. These surroundings are ideal for walking, picnics and enjoying the natural landscape, with plenty of space for families to explore and unwind.

Caldicot Castle & Country Park also features play areas, wildlife habitats and scenic viewpoints that highlight the beauty of the Monmouthshire countryside. Combining history with outdoor recreation, it offers a varied and enjoyable day out for visitors of all ages.
